Later, Gator - Laurence Yep

I liked the story because a Chinese boy realizes that he has a special bond with his brother. Teddy doesn't get along with his little brother, Bobby. He is jealous of him because he never gets into trouble. He treats him like he is his enemy. He decides to get his perfect brother and eye-popping gift such as, a meat-eating alligator with hopes that he will get into trouble with it. He begins to feel sorry for his little brother when the alligator dies. He begins to realize how much he does care for his brother. This book would be interesting to children because of the alligator in the story. It is a touching narrative. I was influenced by the memories that I have of pets that I loved, and they died. It is difficult when a pet dies. Sometimes events that occur can cause emotions to emerge that you didn't know you had.
